My research interests are broadly situated in the field of gender and international security.
In my research, I follow innovative, participatory, arts based and decolonial approaches and methods.
Along my career trajectory, I have conducted extensive research in Sub-Saharan and North Africa funded by prestigious funders such as UKRI; the Global Challenges Research Fund; The British Academy and NATO.
I have also conducted a number of consultancies for the United Nations and other international organisations focused on this region.
In my research I have studied on peace settlements across Africa looking particularly at issues such as gender, power sharing, transitional justice, and human rights and how these are addressed in peace agreements across the continent.

I have also significant experience of researching gender and justice in Africa and I led several research studies and consultancies on this topic including the research project on Justice for survivors of sexual violence in the Democratic Republic of the Congo funded by the British Academy in 2016 and the International Commission of Jurists' study on women in the judiciary in Africa.
I have also worked on the topic related to gender and violent extremism. This includes the research on gender and resistance to violent extremism in Kenya funded by the Tackling UK International Challenges British Academy Award (2018) and Global Network on Gender and Violent Extremism funded by the Global Challenges Research Funds (2019), also in Kenya.
I am currently the Lead Investigator on a large research project funded the AHRC that uses arts and co-reactive approaches to prevent violence against women with disabilities in South Africa.
