I was awarded an International Strategy Fund (ISF) pump priming funding from the University of Leeds to pursue an international collaborative project titled: Tackling Antimicrobial Resistance from the Lecture Theatre to the Dental Clinic and the Research Lab.

The project unites a network of five universities: two from Brazil, two from Egypt, and the University of Leeds, to address the global challenge of antimicrobial resistance in dentistry.

The initiative will encompass educational programs and collaborative research activities.

A core component of the project involves creating a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) with contributions from faculties of Dentistry across all partner institutions.

Following the MOOC, students from each university will engage in collaborative learning (COIL), working in groups to create posters on the topics covered.

These posters will be entered into a competition, with winning teams invited to present their work at a conference hosted by the University of Leeds.

The other part of the project is collaborative research with Suez University in Egypt, validating the use of natural antimicrobials in clinical dentistry (lab-based research in Leeds and clinical trial in Egypt).
