Countries
In 2014 I completed a self-funded placement with the African Palliative Care Association in Kampala, Uganda.
Since then, we have been working together alongside research and clinical partners across countries in Africa to develop research capacity and projects with a focus on palliative care.
Research themes
A strong theme across our research has been the use of digital technologies to increase access to palliative care and support the delivery of care.
This has included digital platforms to support medicines management, undergraduate medical student education, and side effects reporting during cancer treatment.
mPallCare
Most recently, in partnership with the African Palliative Care Association we have developed mPallCare, a digital health platform that enables care teams to track patient symptoms, concerns, and clinical data through a mobile application and web-based dashboard.
The mobile application allows patients and healthcare workers to record symptoms using validated tools, while the clinical dashboard enables care teams to review individual patient reports and aggregated symptom data to enhance care management.
The platform has been piloted in Uganda and Malawi.
